Our Story
Our foundation was laid in 2025, in the heart of struggle and perseverance, driven by a shared experience as victims of circumstances. We realized we had the power to change the story not just for ourselves but for the generations to come. We now stand as champions for education and climate action; we harness the power of education and collective action to ignite ourselves, our community, and the world at large. Raising Steps Uganda is our testament to what happens when people unite with purpose. Our mission is to uplift learners through education and ignite solutions, proving that even in diversity there is power to change.
We became architects of change knowing that through education and environmental stewardship we could build a brighter future for all learners. Raising Steps Uganda was founded with a simple but yet powerful vision: to create a world where every learner is given a chance to be empowered, dignified, and have dreams for the future. We started as a community-based initiative in Uganda’s illiterate sector when our founders witnessed and experienced the same challenges in their communities and the world at large.
Mission Statement
Our mission is to empower students and communities by providing access to education, scholastic materials, mentorship, and life skills, while promoting mental health awareness, gender equality, and career guidance. At the same time, we commit to advancing climate action and sustainability through environmental education, conservation, and community-driven initiatives that build resilience and secure a prosperous future.

We envision a future of equity, innovation, and prosperity where no student is left behind, the girl child is empowered, and development is achieved in harmony with the environment.

Chairperson
As an electrical engineer by profession, Emma brings precision, structure, and problem solving to the heart of social impact. As Chairperson of Raising Steps Uganda, he applies that same analytical mindset to building sustainable pathways for child empowerment and community upliftment. For Emma, empowering a child isn't just charity it's connecting the spark of opportunity to the power of a brighter future

Executive Director
A lawyer by profession, Irene brings fierce advocacy, strategic clarity, and an unshakeable commitment to justice to Raising Steps Uganda. She uses her legal expertise to protect the vulnerable, defend the rights of children, and ensure the organization operates with integrity and impact. For Irene, true advocacy isn't just about applying the law it's about standing in the gap so every child has a safe, protected space to thrive.

An agricultural professional by trade, Francis understands that meaningful growth requires the right environment, deep roots, and dedicated care. As Speaker at Raising Steps Uganda, he serves as a unifying voice, bringing strategic clarity, advocacy, and grounded wisdom to the leadership team. Francis applies the principles of growth to human potential ensuring every child is given the fertile ground and support needed to blossom into a leader of tomorrow.

HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGER
With a strong foundation in Social Sciences, Gramusen brings a deep understanding of human behavior, community structures, and social dynamics to Raising Steps Uganda. He bridges empathy with evidence-based strategy translating social insights into targeted empowerment programs that uplift vulnerable children. For Gramusen, social science isn't just an academic discipline; it’s a tool to restore dignity, advocate for equity, and drive real world transformation.
